What makes Stubby Pencil Studio different?

Stubby Pencil Studio began in 2006 with a simple idea: creativity should be part of everyday life.

Today, we curate creative tools, artisan stationery, artist-made gifts, and original artwork chosen for their quality, craftsmanship, originality, and ability to inspire creativity and connection.

Unlike large marketplaces, every product is personally selected with intention and care.

Why do you support independent artists and makers?

We believe creativity adds meaning, connection, and beauty to everyday life. That's why we actively seek out products created by independent artists, skilled makers, and small businesses whose work reflects genuine craftsmanship and originality.

Human Artists Matter™

Do you make all of the products you sell?

No. While some products and artwork are created in-house, we also partner with artists, makers, and small businesses whose work reflects our values of creativity, quality, and thoughtful design.

What is Art on the Go!®?

Art on the Go!® is a collection of everyday products featuring original artwork by founder Kate Hargrave. From tote bags and accessories to home décor and gifts, each piece allows you to carry a piece of original art wherever life takes you.

How do you choose the products you carry?

Every product is personally reviewed and selected by founder Kate Hargrave. We look for products that are well made, thoughtfully designed, and inspiring to use, and many are products we use ourselves in our homes, studios, and creative work.

Do you offer eco-friendly products?

Yes. From the beginning, we've looked for products made from natural materials, responsibly sourced components, and safer alternatives for families. Our focus has never been following trends. We simply believe well-made products are better for people and often better for the planet.

What are Coloring Cards?

Coloring Cards began as Color 'n Kids™, the original product line that launched Stubby Pencil Studio in 2006. Created to help children express gratitude through thank you notes, the cards quickly became a favorite with families, teachers, and gift givers. Parents loved that they transformed writing thank you notes from a chore into an activity children looked forward to.

Today, our coloring cards are enjoyed by all ages. Whether used by children, adults, grandparents, classrooms, hospitals, senior living communities, or anyone who enjoys coloring, they offer a simple way to slow down, create something personal, and connect with others.

We often describe them as artisan coloring cards because they combine the thoughtfulness of a greeting card with the creativity of making something by hand. Every card includes space for the artist's name, age, and date, turning a simple greeting into a personal work of art that can be treasured for years to come.
